Quadrennial Ozone Symposium Kos 2004, 1 - 8 June, 2004

Second Announcement and Call for extended abstracts:

The International Ozone Commission (IOC) of the International Association for Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences (IAMAS) announces that the next International Quadrennial Ozone Symposium - QOS 2004 - will be held at Kipriotis Hotels, Kos, Greece from 1-8 June 2004

Abstracts & extended abstracts

Submission of Abstracts

Those who wish to present extended abstract(s) at the Symposium are requested to submit an Abstract (maximum 250 words) of each proposed extended abstract, latest by 31 December 2003, using the submission form available at www.QOS2004.gr.

In the submission authors must indicate at least one topic that is thought to be most appropriate and to state their preference of oral or poster presentation.

However, the Scientific Programme Committee may change/rearrange submitted extended abstracts to other sessions than author's preference in order to accommodate the overall oral/poster programme sessions.

The Abstracts will be used to review the extended abstract suitability and the appropriate session. Therefore, it is in authors' own interest to prepare the Abstracts with sufficient information for their review by the Scientific Programme Committee.

Submission of extended abstracts

At the L' Aquila Quadrennial Symposium (1996) IOC adopted a policy for the final extended abstracts for this Symposium in order to provide extended abstracts at the time of the Symposium and to give possibility to the authors to submit full size extended abstracts to international journals.

Each author will be requested to prepare a camera-ready extended abstract (Extended Abstract) of 2 full pages in GRL format including figures, tables, and references for each presentation.

The extended abstract must reach the LOC before 30 March 2004. If an Extended Abstract is found not to be of acceptable standard, it may not be included in the Proceedings.

Proceedings will include extended abstracts only by registered participants.

Conference Information

Scientific Program

The Symposium organizers are soliciting scientific extended abstracts on all aspects of topics for atmospheric ozone studies such as follows:

   1.  Observations and analyses of total and vertical ozone distributions
   2.  Observation techniques and inter-comparisons
   3.  Tropospheric ozone in particular, past and future budgets and trends
   4.  Observations and budgets of minor constituents related to atmospheric ozone
   5.  Ozone chemistry
   6.  Model calculations dynamics and chemistry coupling
   7.  Ozone - climate interactions
   8.  Ozone and ultraviolet radiation
   9.  Ozone in the tropics

The sessions will include a few oral and mostly poster presentations.
